Homer

Just a quick break from the daily grind to wish a good pal of mine a belated Happy Birthday.

Although my folks denied all of my pleas to own a dog as a kid (like most parents do), Homer happened to enter the family by chance and total luck when we got him as a gift. I guess it's pretty tough for parents to say "no" to a two month old pup, when the first thing he does when entering your house is to take a leak on the kitchen floor (guess who cleaned it up?).

He totally changed the dynamics of the household when we took him in, and he greeted me each and every time I came home for 13 years.

In hindsight, our time together was way too short (maybe not in dog years), but we lived real wide dammit.

Happy birthday, pal. You are certainly missed. I think I'd give a kidney to have that one last walk with you. Wherever you are, long may you run.
